the subtle grays and flashing reds

I first discovered Kurt Halsey's work in late 2005. I've moved on from being the rabid crazy fan (and he has slowed down in merchandise/art shows/etc. over the same period of time)...but I still go to his website/LJ community once in awhile.

In this cold cold winter (my hands are freezing most of all), his work is comforting. quiet, peaceful, simple. but beautiful and elegant (and at times very moving. not the case for this one specifically).

Yet another reason to love Portland. ;) (Along with my Uncle Paul, public transit, lots of places/people that I'd enjoy, Powells bookstore, Leann from Project Runway season 4 is from there-just recently moved to NYC, kate bingham-burt (spelling?) is there, etc.)

waiting anxiously..then it arrives so quietly, it is hard to notice.

Of course I didn't check my school email since sunday or something.. and my teacher emailed last night we weren't having class (my 1130-118 one) because so many people were going to be watching the inauguration. So I woke up at 9 am (and have to leave by 9:15 am), so I was running out the door..wasn't anywhere near a computer before arriving to class.

So I was so busy printing things out, checking my email, reading my blogs, now I don't think I have time for McDonald's before class! Meep!

Got class 330-520 pm.. (EALL675), then 6 pm Dr. Gordon appointment, then go home and do homework/eat/craft (and hopefully get to use TV to watch Obama stuff, but I doubt it).

I can't wait for all the magazine covers/articles/etc. I'm getting in the mail sometime. ;) *hint, hint*

(all below was gathered and was to be placed on one of my other blogs, but I don't have the time...)

Right now I am on the look out for any photos depicts brain waves, heart waves, sleep waves...

i love how your eyes close, whenever you kiss me. & when i’m away from you, i love how you miss me. i love the way your kiss is always heavenly but darling most of all i love how you love me. i love how your heart beats, whenever i hold you. i love how you think of me without being told to. i love the way your touch is always tenderly but darling most of all i love how you love me. -phil spector

There’s tension between being a fulfilled human being and being right all the time. Feeling vehemently about an issue often blinds us to its complexity, but we’d be machines if we always chose accuracy over enthusiasm. --22words

Every poem can be considered in two ways—as what the poet has to say, and as a thing which he makes. -C. S. Lewis

survival, really. end of second quarter.

oh my.

from being sick the past three weeks or so, to not being motivated (as in writers block), to being behind, to stress, to tired, to ... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It is so so nice to be done with this quarter.

I don't know what my grades are for 2 of my 3 classes yet. (I could get lucky and get A-, but I'm guessing more like Bs or Cs). The only one I do know is the one I was confident about..

dismay. a loss of two fine gentlemen.

Recently I watched "The West Wing" (some random episode on Bravo). One of my ALL. TIME. FAVORITE. SHOWS. *guh!* Aaron Sorkin has this tremendous ability to create/write television. (shhh!, we won't talk about Studio 60 ;-)). I was an addict for the first four seasons (aka Sorkin years) but couldn't watch the final three (or four?) without him being there. Anyway, I had set our tv recorder for "Requiem" (http://www.tvguide.com/roush/watched-Requiem-23561.aspx)... sure the opening credits / theme music always make me cry.. but with the teaser scenes before the credits, by the time it got to credits, I was SOBBING. I couldn't stop for a couple minutes. It has been almost 3 years and apparently I was not quite ready for that episode...

This (John Spencer's death on December 16, 2005) and Jerry Orbach's death (Detective Lennie Briscoe on "Law & Order" December 29, 2004) were two of the most devastating events of my life. I am all pop-culture and all that stuff (my favorite magazine besides Cloth Paper Scissors and World Literature Today? By far, Entertainment Weekly), but normally death and other life events don't really affect me... not the case there.

theme per day/jumpstart on blogging?

Inspired by Floresita's list:
Mixtape Monday
Tips & Tutorials Tuesday
Wardrobe Wednesday
Three Things Thursday
Flashback Friday
Stitchy Saturday
Sketchy Sunday
http://unafloresita.blogspot.com/2008/10/i-know-i-am-crazy-but-i-will-blog-every.html

I have this idea for my blogs...
Make, Do, Create Mondays -- actual make, do, create, not just talk. :)
Things Tuesdays -- wants, needs, items, things, stuff, materialistic....:)
Word Wednesdays -- text, type, font, words, phrases, languages, writing, letters, reading, talk, books, literature... :)
Thoughtful Thursdays -- thoughts on life/the world :)
Freedom Fridays -- for whatever I want to share.... :)
School Saturdays -- I do after all go to college and school is a tremendous part of my time, money, and energy. :)
Start Over Sundays -- reduce, reuse, recycle, redo, remake, etc. :)

Note this could be at any of blogs:

the morning after: President Barack Obama

I am literately, like, spinning.

My mind, body, soul... in my head... just. WOW.

I spent so much time lately in the past 6 weeks or so... not to mention afternoons of weds, thurs, fri, (oct 30/31 nov 1) most of sun, mon, tues, weds (nov 4 through 7)... all for President Obama. :) I had so much fun getting out there promoting/supporting a man who has inspired me & so many others... I got to know my school better (like campus area) and meet lots of students (which isn't easy, since I am not an outgoing person). While I enjoyed every second I spent, this past week was awesome. Last night (830am-1015 pm) and today (1030am-4 pm, cleaning up)...*sigh* I couldn't ask for better cohorts. I am going to miss all of those from other states-California, New York, D.C., etc. who came here just to give their time, energy, and spirit.

I'm also super proud of my dad, because he spent time on monday & tuesday volunteeering (plus he got me stickers, a full sheet..and one that I hadn't seen/didn't have! ;))... today cleaning I got some gift cards, posters, buttons, stickers, etc. (not like I didn't already have a bunch of stuff). And yes, I'm a bit materialistic. Ah well.

I am now with a headache. It is hard to go back down to the ground. Reality has to strike back, and I keep feeling like I am aimlessly going around. I am lost and going "What am I suppose to do with my life now?" :)

yes, I'm here.

Yes, real life gets into my way and then doesn't let me blog or spend time on my favorite websites or read my blog list. That is too bad.

I'm stopping by the get a book from the library, then hopefully I get home in time for psychologist appointment.

Quotes

If fun is good, truth is still better, and love best of all. -William Makepeace Thackeray (1811-1863)

e593 assignment #1

Ghosts of Abu Ghraib (film) or Guantanamo (play)?

choices, choices, decisions...

I need to pick one because rough draft due by friday, peer review this weekend no later than monday, and then final draft due the following friday....
commentary...yeah, I wonder what I could put up here that isn't "MEMEMEMEME" life stuff (caught left handed blog for that), finished/completed work (text and threads blog), works in progress/ideas/etc. (for the love of art and the making blog), or OSU related (a trace source of a record blog)... oh well, right now this blog (along with 2 others of my 5) are on block, subject to being deleted by blogger in 20 days because they have been marked "spam". :(
